I may be in the minority here in saying that cleaning my rings virtually never crosses my mind. I am sure others out there would be appalled to know I have never, in 3 years, cleaned my rings. Gross. I know. I work in healthcare to boot. Constant applications of hand sanitizers followed by lotions to combat the dryness that comes from repetitive hand washing all day long. Layers and layers of dried up gunk and grime is what I found under my stone setting. Oh, and lets not forget we are in the middle of a pandemic. The jewelry store my ring came from in our local mall….gone. Out of business. Lovely.
So I improvised. I came up with a concoction of things I had in my house that I have to share. Also, this took me all of 10 minutes to have rings that looked as shiny and as clean as the day I first saw them! Here is the not-so-secret recipe!
I used a small condiment cup, but any small container will work.
- One small squirt of Dawn Dish soap
- 4 sprays of Windex
- 2tbs of white vinegar
- 4 tbs hot water
Let the rings sit in the mixture for 5 to 10 min. I used a toothpick to gently pick the gunk out of the small holes, cracks, and crevices in the ring. Use a sponge to scrub the rings. Rinse them off and watch them shine!
